“You’re being pelted with hailstones, running across a misty moor and knee deep in bog, but it’s when you’ve battled through the elements and finished that you feel this amazing sense of achievement.”

Holly was always going to end up a mountain runner. Growing up on the Hills of Hebden Bridge, with a love of the outdoors and two fell running parents it was just an inevitability. “When I was little I used to watch him (Holly's Dad) doing his fell races, and then I started doing the children’s races and just started getting better and better. I like being out in the countryside, rather than just going on a track or a road. There’s more freedom with where you can go, you can go anywhere you want.”

From those children's fun runs Holly soon started progressing up the ranks and getting into the Junior English Championships races by the time she was 11. She has been showing the mountain running world how it's done ever since, making it onto the GB mountain running team and even winning the legendary Monte Rosa Sky Marathon in 2018.

As well as being a professional runner, Holly also speaks several languages and works in international development and translation. Check out her adventures on her Instagram: @hollyapage
